MRI — we don't offer this

Manager approved by Anthony Mobilio on 4 May 2026.

United Radiology does not operate MRI scanners at any of our sites. If a patient calls asking about an MRI, the short version is: we can't do it, and they'll need to book with another provider.

What to say on the phone

"Unfortunately United Radiology doesn't offer MRI at any of our sites. Your referring doctor can point you to the closest MRI provider, or I can suggest one in your area if that helps. You don't need a new referral — the one you have will work at any MRI-capable practice."

Common caller scenarios

  • "My GP referred me for an MRI — can you book me in?" Sorry, we don't offer MRI. Their referral is still valid for any MRI provider; point them back to the GP or suggest a nearby practice.

  • "My scan is booked at [other provider] — I have a safety question." Their provider handles the safety screening. Give them that provider's number; don't try to screen for another practice.

  • "What's the difference between MRI and CT?" Short answer if asked: MRI uses a magnet (no radiation), best for soft tissue like brain, spine, joints. CT uses X-rays (low dose), fast, best for bone, chest, abdomen, trauma. We do CT — see CT fast facts. If they're unsure which they need, refer them back to the referrer.

  • "Can I get my MRI done here?" No — we don't have MRI. Refer elsewhere.

Don't give MRI safety advice

Even if the patient is MRI-booked somewhere else and asks us "is my pacemaker safe for MRI?" — we are not their MRI provider. Direct them to the provider that's doing the scan. Guessing is dangerous.
